"I reviewed your Fundamentals of Investing and can only say I wish I had received this info a few years ago. It would have saved me thousands of dollars I wasted in Technology stocks."
"I just finished watching your LTC Video. I thought the content was excellent."
"I am very pleased with the content of the (8) tapes; you presented truly useful material in an understandable manner."
"The information presented was very well done. The "Fundamentals of Investing" tape was especially interesting to me because you explained the fairly complicated concept of risk in an easy to understand presentation...something that my college professors were not able to do."
"Just viewed some of the Annuities tape and everything looks great, as anticipated."
"I sure wish I had these a few years back. Thank you for taking the time to make these tapes. I'm sure I'll be calling my broker and making some adjustments to my 401K and portfolio after viewing and digesting your information."
"I purchased your LTC tape and I found it to be informative and well worth the money. I took the LTC course offered at work (Navy) and I would say that your presentation was far better. "
"I really enjoyed and have benefited from the instructional video I ordered from you (Fundamentals of Investing)"
"Your tapes contain good information. The subjects were explained well, without going into too much detail as to become information overload. A good view of investing and investments from one that knows what he is talking about, and not afraid to be honest in revealing the truth. I feel better informed on a number of important financial issues that need my attention. Your tapes helped a great deal."
"I purchased your LTC video and I think it is great."
"After purchasing your "Annuities" tape and seeing all the things I did not know, I have decided to purchase 5 more tapes......................"
"Your tapes are a bargain education!"
The most definitive and authoritative REAL LIFE presentations on a series of financial subjects designed to instruct consumers on issues no one else has offered effectively- if at all.
High Intensity "Human Powered" Classroom Instruction
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FINANCIAL PLANNING
LIFE AND DISABILITY INSURANCE ANALYST
REGISTERED INVESTMENT ADVISER
Because of the complexity of some issues, I have decided to do this. You can call me after your purchase and viewing of the Long Term Care tape to "briefly" discuss new issues in the policies (they change 'quarterly'). I have also decided to so this with Retirement since the video does address some calculator fundamentals that may need to be discussed further. And with Securities Arbitration as well since you may be considering a case and I might steer you in the right direction. Be advised, I am not doing your planning- just figure a few minutes conversation might be beneficial to you.
This is not "pretty" instruction (neither am I), but it is the most effective way of communicating subject matter of this type definitively. In such regard, you must recognize that it is the information and my capability as an instructor you are buying- not a video with a preprogrammed script, lots of color or "cool" effects. There is nothing "cool" about what I am doing- just hard hitting facts in a comprehensible manner for those who want knowledge to protect themselves and their loved ones. The price per video is $34.95 plus shipping and worth every penny. They could easily save you thou$and$- at least give you and your loved ones peace of mind. You won't hear this material anyplace else. You will learn. I guarantee it.
Instruction has included: Long Term Care, Taxation, Financial Planning, Real Estate, Securities Licensing Training (6, 7, 24, 27, 63, etc.), Investments, Medicare, Social Security, Disability Insurance, Managed Care, Annuities, Life Insurance, Estate Planning, Contracts, Securities Application, Ethics, Fiduciary Duty and more. Material was accepted for continuing education credit by the California Department of Insurance, California CPA Society, California State Bar, California Real Estate Department, National Association of Security Dealers, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and used in classes in Financial Planning for University of California and private institutions.
These are designed for the intelligent middle income consumer who wants a presentation of straight talk in an understandable format- without marketing hype. They are not geared for the person with no experience and/or reading on planning or investments nor for the person with over $10,000,000. That said, most could still apply the fundamentals presented to be a much more informed consumer and investor.
Presented in a classroom format (effectively same as I do for all students but with even more candor ) that includes charts, graphs, statistics, reference to pertinent Internet sites and texts. Just so we are clear- these are not powerpoint presentations. Nor is it some sophomoric PBS special with some "warm and fuzzy" offering to make you feel good about money(?). It is me with a white board instructing you as to what really goes on in the business and what you should be doing to protect yourself along with the fundamentals to a successful future. Professionals (what few there are) can really use this- but the focus here is for consumers. Some reference material will be included with the tapes- varies per subject.
They are fast paced going from subject to subject, demanding your attention but they are never dull nor boring. You may actually enjoy these presentations. Get this- I have done innumerable 8 hour days to students who just happened to be there because they needed their continuing education credit. But they then state it was the most informative and enjoyable class they had ever attended. There are extended case studies and real life examples both good and bad. Again, REAL LIFE.
They average about 1.5 - 1.75 hours each (excluding the introduction) and will give you the necessary and understandable real life insight for your financial future.
Video 1. WHO CAN YOU TRUST? WHO SHOULD YOU USE? WHO KNOWS ANYTHING? WHO IS LEGAL? WHO IS ETHICAL?: Three separate sections: The first five minutes gives a brief, yet concise, commentary that will help consumers avoid about 90% of all scams and about 85%+ of all the reasons people lose money when using advisors- including themselves.
The next 15 minutes extends the discussion to cover almost all scams and addresses 90%+ of all reasons why people lose money inappropriately. Will clearly show why referrals are one of the worst ways to select anyone in this business.
The last 45 minutes is more in depth and designed not only for consumers, but attorneys, arbitrators and other professionals in recognizing what actually stands behind the knowledge, ethics, designations and guidelines for brokers, agents and planners. It definitively covers all the issues in selecting an advisor and analyzing competency. It cannot guarantee the selection of the best advisors, but it will weed out 99% of all the ones you shouldn't hire.
Includes commentary on: fees versus commissions; double dipping by planners, why you should not choose anyone solely based on an affiliation with a national firm or organization and much, much more. Graph included- article downloaded from site.
Video 2. BASIS: This tape will cover one of the least understood and most misapplied concepts of financial planning, taxation, estate planning and more. Very few people truly understand the implications in literally everything they own, will use or sell, or will leave to beneficiaries. It is number 2 on the list because of its direct implications to almost all assets and the fact that at least 75% of all wills and trusts with more than one beneficiary are drawn incorrectly and universally causes unintended animosity between beneficiaries that can last for a generation or more. (Are you willing to take that risk with your children?)
Here is a simple example. You leave $100,000 in a 401(K) to your daughter. You leave $100,000 in a mutual fund to your son. Your intent was to provide an equal distribution. Appears to be an equal inheritance, right? Not even close. By using a 30% tax bracket, your daughter gets $30,000 less money ($70,000) than your son ($100,000). Is that what you wanted to do? Will $30,000 (or $3,000 or $300) make any difference between your children when you die? Nah!
The tape will also cover both types of annuities, 401(k)s, IRAs, ROTH IRAs, mutual funds, real estate, life insurance, etc. along with details on how they work when you are alive and what the implications are when you die. Absolutely MUST reading for consumers, advisors and all attorneys- specifically estate planning attorneys. Basis article included for reference.

"Your tapes are a bargain education!"
How about beta? Do you really know what it is and how it should be applied? Well, it will take 10 minutes.
Dollar cost averaging? Does it work? Nope. So what is it all about? Take about 10 minutes.
Diversification: How many stocks does it takes to insulate a portfolio due to unsystematic risk? 3, 15, 50, 350??? You have to know this BEFORE you buy stock! If you do not know diversification, you cannot know risk. If you do not know risk, you cannot determine suitability. If you (or your adviser) cannot determine suitability, you're screwed!
You will get a firm understanding of how to invest through the coverage of issues like the pyramid of investing, indexing and managed funds, correlation, individual stocks, Sharpe, Samuelson, etc. This presentation covers a whole bunch of other material where you might have felt "stupid" when a broker or planner talked to you. No more. You may very well end up knowing more than your broker or planner when you finish the tape.
Mandatory material/background for 401(k) employees since it will address stuff you should have been taught in your seminars but was normally "missed" because your instructor didn't have a clue to investing- and neither did your company. Remember, brokers have NEVER been taught the fundamentals of investing as part of licensing training. So, since they don't know the fundamentals, you have to! Here is real life insight so you can make rational decisions.
Coverage includes caregiving with specific reference to women, Activities of Daily Living, Alzheimers and senile dementia, contractual elements, tax deductibility (and whether you actually want it!), Medicaid and Medicare, daily costs, statistics and more that should definitely help you or a loved one make a more rational decision in selecting a LTC policy. Updated commentary on LTC included.
"I purchased your LTC tape and I found it to be informative and well worth the money. I took the LTC course offered at work (Navy) and I would say that your presentation was far better. "
Direct discussion on suitability and sophisticated investor since they are the most contentious issues in arbitration. Yet they have rarely been properly defined to either attorneys or arbitrators. You may find that neither the arbitrators nor attorneys are prepared to address these issues definitively or objectively since both are probably lacking in the fundamentals of investing and securities applications. The major B/D's firm may be acting illegally- a factor never brought up in discussion at any level. You must know the limitations of these issues before you hire an attorney and before you go to arbitration. I would also suggest you buy DOES YOUR BROKER OWE YOU MONEY? - Daniel R. Solin
